North Eugene/NW Lane County Turns the Tide Against Water Damage: Call Us at 541-799-0090

Recent customers discovered how small problems can mask larger ones. Maria and Patrick heard an odd sound; after a few days – and a lot of sleuthing --, they figured out it was a leak somewhere in the house. They turned off the water main and called a plumber. The plumber had to remove cabinets and part of a wall to find and repair the leaking pipe. There wasn’t a lot of water, but the damage was intense, including:

  • Shredded drywall
  • Split wood in the cabinets
  • Shattered grout between the tiles
  • Rot in the subflooring
  • Widespread microbial growth (which caused extensive damage on its own)
  • A musty and unpleasant odor
  • Mushy walls (Patrick’s term) where the cabinets had been
  • Blistered paint

They called the North Eugene/NW Lane County to get rid of the excess water, which kept leaking out of the sodden materials, and to decontaminate their home from the microbial growth/mold. We did the following:

  • Extracted the excess water (while our vacuums can extract up to tens of gallons of water, there was far less in this instance)
  • Dried/dehumidified the area – leaving an area damp guarantees that the growth will return
  • Contained the growth with physical barriers and negative air pressure to prevent the spores from the microbial growth from spreading throughout their house
  • Used air filtration equipment, scrubbers, and HEPA vacuums to remove the colonies, any spores that we could capture, and further prevent the spores from spreading
  • Decontaminated and cleaned the cabinets, floors, walls, ceiling, and other materials
  • Disposed of the old drywall and installed new drywall, got rid of the so-call “mushiness”
  • Repaired the subfloor and floor with new materials
  • Repaired the cabinets
  • Replaced the cabinets in the wall, repainted the kitchen
  • Cleaned and disinfected the area

When we finished, we had made the damage “Like it never even happened.”
